Find an Opportunity in your local area

There are a variety of ways to find a volunteer opportunity that's right for you. To get started, follow these instructions:

1.        Click Search at the top of the page.

2.        To find an opportunity in your local area, enter your ZIP code in the ZIP code field.

3.        Use the Distance field to adjust the mile radius where you would be available to volunteer.

4.        Click 'Search' to see a list of volunteer opportunities that match the criteria you selected.

Find an Opportunity for Kids, Teens, 55+, Groups or Families

You can refine your search criteria to find an opportunity as specific as your interests and requirements.

1.        Click Search at the top of the page.

2.        If you are looking for an opportunity in your local area, enter your ZIP code in the ZIP code field.

3.        Use the Distance field to adjust the mile radius where you would be available to volunteer.

4.        Check the box to the right of "Great for" that best fits your needs.

5.        Click 'Search' to see a list of volunteer opportunities that match the criteria you selected.

Find an Opportunity by Organization or Preferred Partnership

Search for a specific organization you would like to volunteer with or look for a local chapter of a national organization.

1.        Click Search at the top of the page.

2.        If you are looking for an organization in your local area, enter your ZIP code in the ZIP code field.

3.        Enter the name of the organization in the Organization Name field.

4.        You can also use the pull-down menu to the left of Preferred Partners or USA Freedom Corps to locate a specific type of        organization.

5.        Click 'Search' to locate the specific organization.

Find a Virtual Opportunity

Virtual opportunities can be completed from virtually anywhere they don't require you to be in a specific location.  To find a virtual opportunity, follow these instructions:

1.        Click Search at the top of the page.

2.        Set the Distance drop-down menu to Virtual.

3.        Click 'Search' for a list of virtual opportunities.

Find an Opportunity by Category of Interest

If you'd like to support a certain cause area, you can easily locate volunteer opportunities that match your interest. 

To search by category of interest, follow these instructions:

1.        Click Search at the top of the page.

2.        Select a Category that matches your interests.

3.        Click 'Search' for a list of opportunities that match your selection.

Express Interest in a Volunteer Opportunity

After searching for a volunteer opportunity, scroll through the list of results to find one that interests you. To learn more about a specific opportunity, click on its title for a detailed description of the skills required, address of the organization, cause areas served, and number of volunteers needed.

To notify the nonprofit organization of your interest in volunteering, click "I want to help!" and complete the brief form. VolunteerMatch will email your contact information to the nonprofit organization so they can contact you directly.  VolunteerMatch encourages each nonprofit to respond to potential volunteers as soon as possible.
